“Plan Oaxaca”

When I was asked which would be one of my next destinations, perhaps to travel or visit, my next adventure in this life, I thought without hesitation of Oaxaca. Maybe by intuition or simply a game of friends, the so called "Plan Oaxaca", but I will tell you about this beautiful and unexplored city for me.

Oaxaca is one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico, full of adventures, dishes, mysteries and cultures to experience. Get up very early to go to the temple of Santo Domingo, it is the best time to enjoy its facade and to tour its interior, so you have everything for yourself. Then venture into the city, get lost in the streets of downtown Oaxaca. Remembering my university life, there is a methodology that I love to do when you know a different city and it is called "A la Deriva" and it is to let yourself go in the same city, by the smells, sounds, hidden passages, etc, where you will always follow your heart and also you will discover many things that other tourists do not, since you are not guided by monuments or simple maps. The cleanliness of the streets and the solemnity of the facades in the center of Oaxaca make you enjoy every step guiding you to its square and its market, unmissable places in this beautiful city. There you have no doubt and I have to try the "Tejate", a regional drink with an unmissable flavor. No doubt among the crafts, its people and this new and colorful city will surprise you.

Half an hour from the center of Oaxaca is another one of these must-sees of this city, "El árbol del Tule" (The Tule Tree) It is the tree with the largest diameter on Earth, people come from all over the world and the entrance fee is $10 pesos per person and if you are a tree lover like me it is certainly a place to meet. Very close to El Tule, another half hour away, there is a mythical place called "Hierve el Agua" where you will find impressive petrified waterfalls that were formed millions of years ago by the passage of waters rich in minerals. Costing $25 pesos per person. Here you will find natural springs that form pools of water in which you can swim, at the top of the Oaxaca mountain range with an incredible view of the whole valley and its mythical clouds that touch the mountains.

Oaxaca has its colonial roots but also its ancestral roots. Every year the "Llamado del Caracol" takes place, where healers, shamans and tlamatini gather to offer their wisdom to anyone who seeks it. From July 20th to 22nd it will take place in the cultural center La Calera and its objective is to make known the benefits of traditional and holistic medicine, to show diverse millenary healing techniques through medicinal plants and rituals, as well as to create links between healers and the general public. Another wonderful place to visit is the archaeological zone of "Monte Alban", half an hour from Oaxaca hides an immense history full of mysteries that will undoubtedly surprise you.

And one of the unmissable endings and also being sincere where I really want to go is the Sierra Madre of Oaxaca, over 2400 meters high, where it is undoubtedly a place to connect with nature, live incredible and mystical experiences, letting you go through their villages and their community that lives between mountains and valleys amazing. Most of the tourists who visit the area and the region, go with the intention of healing spiritually, attending shamanic ceremonies and especially what everyone goes to San Jose del Pacifico to try this ancient medicine "the Honguitos". But as Yannina Thomassiny's recommendation, visit the city of Rionda, a more virgin place with specialized shamans where your experience in this psychedelic journey with Honguitos is wonderful and full to experiment with this ancestral medicine.

Without a doubt, Oaxaca is art, color and culture, a trip and a unique experience in your life that I will not miss.
